WEST PALM BEACH, FL - APRIL 04: MyPillow Guy CEO Mike Lindell poses for a selfie at a gathering of supporters of former U.S. President Donald Trump near Trump's residence at the Mar-a-Lago Club on April 4, 2023 in West Palm Florida. Trump pleaded not guilty in a Manhattan courtroom today to 34 counts related to money paid to adult film star Stormy Daniels in 2016, the first criminal charges for any former U.S. president. Peter Navarro steps up.

In The Washington Times the former Trump economic advisor headlines: https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2023/oct/3/stop-crucifixion-of-mike-lindell/

Stop the crucifixion of Mike Lindell

‘Woke’ corporatists seek to bankrupt any business that does not conform to the left

In the same week that Mr. My Pillow has said he is now broke due to legal fees from fighting over his comments about the 2020 election, Navarro says this:

“The crucifixion of MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell by ‘woke’ corporatists represents a new and dangerous form of uncivil warfare that threatens to further divide our nation even as it desecrates the First Amendment.

Before “wokeism,” Mr. Lindell was praised across the ideological divide. He overcame drug and gambling addictions to create a powerhouse U.S. company employing thousands of Americans.

If every American CEO had the same “made in the USA” ethic as Mr. Lindell, I may never have served in the Trump White House. There simply would have not been any jobs and factories for then-President Donald Trump bring home to America.

In these ‘woke’ times, however, Mr. Lindell has been under constant attack. ‘Wokeism’ seeks to bankrupt any business that does not conform to the rigid doctrines of the left, and his original “woke” sin has been to openly question the results of the 2020 presidential election.”

Sad but true.

But there’s a twist here.

Back there in 2021, CNN Business was headlining this: https://www.cnn.com/2021/01/19/business/mypillow-bed-bath-and-beyond-sales/index.html

Bed Bath & Beyond stops selling MyPillow after CEO’s Capitol siege comments

CNN reported:

“New York CNN Business  — Bed Bath & Beyond has stopped selling MyPillow products following CEO Mike Lindell’s support of the January 6 insurrection and his continued false statements questioning the validity of the US presidential election.

The retailer said in a statement Tuesday that it’s discontinuing the sales of a “number of underperforming items and brands,” which includes MyPillow. Bed Bath & Beyond (BBBY) said it’s part of its broader plan ofselling more in-house brands when they debut this spring.

Lindell, a major Republican donor, said in an interview with a right-wing broadcaster that the retailers are ‘scared’ and blamed ‘leftist groups’ for pressuring the retailers into dropping his product. He said that Wayfair, Kohl’s and HEB also stopped selling MyPillow products. The three companies didn’t respond to CNN Business’ requests for comment.”

Now for the twist.

There was, but of course, a backlash from My Pillow fans who shopped at Bed, Bath and Beyond. Newsweekheadlined this a mere two years later: https://www.newsweek.com/bed-bath-beyond-bankruptcy-maga-mypillow-mike-lindell-1796293 Bed Bath & Beyond Collapse Celebrated by MAGA: ‘Go Woke Go Broke’

Reported Newsweek:

“The collapse of retailer Bed Bath & Beyond has been celebrated by MAGA Republicans who claimed its downfall was a result of it going “woke” after “canceling” MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell.

On Sunday, the chain of 360 stores across North America filed for bankruptcy with a U.S. District Court in New Jersey, and will start winding down its operations. The company said closing sales would begin on Wednesday and stores would continue to serve customers while it seeks buyers for the company’s assets.

Despite declining fortunes in recent years, as it battled to retain a share of a retail market that has become dominated by home delivery, some have argued that its decision to drop Lindell’s products over his claims about the 2020 election had seen customers walk out on the brand.”

In other words? Out of the blue Bed, Bath and Beyond decided it was more important to play politics and attack Mike Lindell by removing his decidedly non-political products.

At the time I noted this in The American Spectator: https://spectator.org/mypillow-bed-bath-beyond/

“It continues to astonish.

Left-wingers running major American companies are targeting their own customers in a fascist-style anti-Trump crusade. The objective: to intimidate and silence conservatives.

The other day it was Loews hotels. Run by the Democratic/leftist Tisch family, the company ostentatiously announced it would cancel a fundraiser for Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley at its Orlando hotel. This because the Tisches were incensed that Hawley had the nerve to stand on the Senate floor and defend election integrity and the Constitution.

Now it is, of all places, Bed Bath & Beyond that has launched an attack on its pro-Trump customers. The company has ostentatiously decided to stop carrying MyPillow products because they have it in for MyPillow founder and quite visible Trump supporter Mike Lindell.

And unsurprisingly, cross-match the corporate governing officers of Bed Bath & Beyond with Federal Election Commission (FEC) records and, lo and behold, one finds … yes indeed … a far-left Trump-hater in a senior position at the company.

That would be Harriet Edelman. Ms. Edelman is listed as a special adviser to the chairman of Emigrant Bank who is the “independent chair” of the Bed Bath & Beyond board of directors. And sure enough, over there at the FEC she is listed as a 12-time contributor to everything from the Trump-hating Lincoln Project ($1000 and $500) to Biden for President ($2800 and $500) to Democrat senators Doug Jones of Alabama and Ohio’s Sherrod Brown.”

In other words, the company that has punished its Trump-supporting customers by pulling its MyPillow merchandise has as its “independent chair” someone who is, per her record of contributions, a staunch leftist and Trump-hater.”

And like night following day, eventually there were headlines like this one at Newsweek: https://www.newsweek.com/bed-bath-beyond-bankruptcy-maga-mypillow-mike-lindell-1796293

Bed Bath & Beyond Collapse Celebrated by MAGA: ‘Go Woke Go Broke’

The story reported:

Which is to say, so-obsessed with Trump-hating were the people who ran BB&B that they went out of their way to insult their own customers by cancelling Mr. My Pillow.  And eventually they paid the ultimate price of bankruptcy.

After spotlighting more efforts to shut down Mike Lindell by woke corporations, Navarro concludes by saying:

“Yet what we really need is a reformed legal system that will empower victims of “wokeism” to hold both corporations and corporate executives financially accountable for their attacks and resultant damages. I, for one, will work hard to bring about such change if Republicans manage to seize both the White House and Congress in the 2024 election. Will you join me in that effort?”

It will be interesting to see the response.
