Perry, Biden and the media

  |   By Polling+ Staff

Congressman Scott Perry has had enough.

Perry, a Pennsylvania congressman(and full disclosure my own congressman), pushed back when a British reporter suggested Americans see no evidence supporting the impeachment of President Joe Biden.

Fox headlined Perry’s response as follows: https://www.foxnews.com/media/gop-rep-torches-reporter-claiming-americans-see-no-evidence-biden-impeachment-dont-report

GOP rep. torches reporter claiming Americans see no evidence for Biden impeachment: ‘You don’t report on it’

‘The American people can’t see that. They think it’s political revenge,’ a reporter told Rep. Scott Perry, R-Pa.

The story reported:

“Rep. Scott Perry, R-Pa., called out a journalist on Tuesday for claiming that Americans “can’t see” evidence that President Biden has committed wrongdoing worthy of impeachment.

The GOP lawmaker pointed out several examples of evidence of the president’s corruption in response to a question reportedly from U.K. Channel 4 Washington correspondent Siobhan Kennedy. He also said that many Americans are in the dark about it because mainstream reporters like her “don’t report on it.”

The exchange happened during a press conference held by members of Congress outside the Capitol Tuesday, hours after Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., announced a congressional impeachment inquiry into President Biden.”

The reporter asked:

“Can I just ask, what actual evidence do you have as opposed to allegations to show to the American people that would merit an actual impeachment inquiry of Joe Biden, and prove that today isn’t just about –”

Fox goes on to report:

“ Perry interjected with a sarcastic reply. “Oh, I don’t know.”

She then finished her question, wondering if McCarthy was doing this “for the sake of enacting political revenge for the impeachment of Donald Trump.”

Perry immediately shut Kennedy down, declaring, “This isn’t about political revenge. We have the bank accounts. We can see – ma’am – you can see that the homes that the Bidens own can’t be afforded on a congressional or a Senate salary.”

He continued: “You also understand that it’s not normal for family members to receive millions of dollars from overseas interests. Those things aren’t normal. That’s not normal to have 20 shell companies. These things are not normal, and it alludes to not only just widespread corruption, but money laundering, if not influence-peddling itself.”

If ever there were an example of the media acting not as independent journalists but lies of the Democrats, there it is. And as if to vividly illustrate the truth of this, it now is fact that the Biden White House is trying to instruct the media on its impeachment coverage.

Here’s just one headline, this one from The New York Post: https://nypost.com/2023/09/13/biden-impeachment-white-house-to-send-letter-urging-news-outlets-to-scrutinize-inquiry/

White House to send letter urging news outlets to ‘ramp up scrutiny’ of Biden impeachment inquiry

The Post reports:

“President Biden’s White House is planning to send a letter to some of the country’s most prominent news organizations — including CNN, the New York Times and Fox News — urging them to ‘ramp up their scrutiny’ of House Republicans ‘for opening an impeachment inquiry based on lies.’”

In other words? In other words the Biden White House is demanding the media do as the Biden White House says.

And that would be exactly the view Biden and company have of the media and journalists. They are there to carry water for Joe Biden.

And as was illustrated by that exchange between that UK journalist and Congressman Perry, too many journalists agree that is exactly their real job.
